On-line retail costly to run as shops

High transport and returns costs make selling on-line no cheaper than running a traditional shop said a retailer at ICSC’s European Research Seminar in Copenhagen.  Customers also spend four times more in-store than online, according to research, confirming the essential role of shopping centres and high streets in Europe’s economy.

Sales up at Gloucester Antique Centre

Sales at one of the South West’s biggest antique centres are up over 20%.

During September and October, Gloucester Antique Centre at Gloucester Quays, reported a sales uplift of 26% and 20% month on month.

Annual GDP growth in 2011 across the Baltics is predicted at 3.5% and consumer confidence is rising with one of the region’s major shopping centre owners and operators, Linstow Center Management, reporting uninterrupted turnover growth over the last 14 months in all 6 Baltic properties it manages.

Major new Designer Outlet Centre project launched in Copenhagen

An ambitious project to develop Denmark’s largest and second only Outlet Centre has been announced by Danica Pension, the investment arm of Denmark’s largest bank, Danske Bank.   The 16,000 sq.m Copenhagen Designer Outlets, designed by award-winning architects Haskoll, is located alongside the well-known City 2 shopping centre on the outskirts of Copenhagen.
